Only Registered Training Organisation approved by NSW Food Authority can deliver the Food Safety units online and issue the NSW Food Safety Certificates to NSW food outlets. This training also meets the requirements to be a Food Safety Supervisor under the NSW Food Authority, Queensland Food Act 2006, Queensland Food Regulation 2006, Victorian Food Act 1984, and the Food Standards Australia & New Zealand. This 2 unit course applicable to both Retail & Hospitality.
The fees are inclusive of: the 2 units course resources, training fees, Statements of Attainment for the two units plus the $30 NSW Food Authority Certificate fee. The two unit course allows a person to work in both Hospitality & Retail food areas.
In NSW this course must be delivered by a qualified FSS Trainer through an NSW RTO both must be approved by the NSW Food Authority. The NSW Food Authority also authorises the delivery mode such as online and face to face and the issue of the NSW Food Safety Certificates.
Students wanting to undertake the Food Safety Supervisors course may complete all unit online or they can undetake one unit online and completing this unit in one of our training rooms.
We will come to your town and deliver the course to you and your staff in your workplace. We also offer this course online and by distance Ed. To save you time, either or both units can be completed online with an industry trainer supporting you by phone and email. These personalised services that we provide is because we care about you, your business and your customers.
The FSS course has a competency-based assessment. Both units must be completed to a satisfactory standard prior to the issue of qualifications. Assessment for these units combine: written and short answer questions; simulated and/or real practical workplace tasks; and projects - with the collection of a portfolio of workplace evidence where applicable.
Course Content
SITXOHS0002A - Follow workplace hygiene procedures
This unit addresses the key requirements of the National Food Safety Guidelines & Standards and meets all requirements of NSW Legislation for NSW food businesses.
1) Follow hygiene procedures and identify hygiene hazards.
2) Report any personal health issues.
3) Prevent food and other item contamination.
4) Prevent cross contamination by washing hands.
The unit addresses the skills and knowledge required to follow key hygiene procedures that apply in food outlets including hospitality & tourism enterprises. This units is particularly relevant to staff working in retail food outlets, kitchens, housekeeping, food & beverage and tour operations involving the preparation of food.
SITXFSA001A - Implement food safety procedures
This unit addresses the key requirements of the National Food Safety Guidelines -
1. Identify food safety critical control points and hazards
2. Implement procedures for food safety
This unit refers to the implementing & following of food safety procedures in the workplace as part of a food safety program or plan. The procedures addressed in this unit relate to a food safety program based on the HACCP method (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) but can also be customised to other systems. This unit complies with legislative requirements for food safety and the implementation of a food safety plan.
Training Course Outcomes
Participants will receive a Food Safety Supervisor Statement of Attainment on successful completion of the required units of competency.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for entry to the 2 unit Food Safety Supervisor training course. However, to ensure the candidate has the under pinning knowledge required to complete the second unit the two units should be undertaken in the following order :

On completion of the FFS course you receive a Statement of Attainment that is recognised nationally as well as the NSW Food Safety Authority Certification, all for the one fee. NSW FA Certificates can not be issued until all assessment materials have been submitted and assessed to a satisfactory standard.

* Students should note that for the purpose of record keeping and issuing of FA Certificates it is a requirement of NSW legislation that personal information be supplied to the NSW Food Authority.
Course Duration: 6.5-8 hours dependant on class size. All Food Safety courses are Nationally accredited and are applicable to all states.
